The Challenge

Citigroup, a Fortune 50 company with $78 billion in revenue and 239,000 employees across 160 countries, faced a major global transformation to enhance its wholesale credit risk operations.

PwC enlisted independent management consultant and Trouncem CEO Brian Pia to design and implement a comprehensive change management communication program for Citi.

The Work

Citi’s transformation introduced a new target operating model, revised procedures, advanced technology, and the relocation of 200 employees to a new global underwriting division.

Brian’s work included:

  • Conducting discovery sessions and impact assessments to identify challenges and opportunities.
  • Developing a targeted change management communication plan tailored to the affected divisions and employees.
  • Guiding global leaders on strategies to encourage employee buy-in and adoption of the changes.
  • Organizing Town Hall meetings and creating a suite of materials, including presentations, newsletter articles, announcements, employee handbooks, and intranet content.

The Results

Brian’s program empowered employees to adapt and thrive during Citi’s global transformation. PwC and Citi executives praised Brian’s leadership and contributions:

  • “You’re phenomenal. Citi gets high value from you,” said Elliott Stott-Briggs, PwC UK workforce director.
  • “You’re exceptional. You have been so committed to our work,” said Anibal Corvetto, Citi global head of underwriting.
  • “It was a pleasure to work with you and learn from you. We appreciate your guidance,” said Andrea Kiraly, director of Citi Portfolio Management.
